yesterday morning.

7:05am - kiss Cody goodbye and leave for work.
7:06am- decide to run over the road median while turning out of my neighborhood and blow out two tires.
7:06:24am- call Cody, crying, and say, "Codyyyy, i made an uh-oh."
7:06:32am - call my boss, "Dr Wallin, i'm going to be late because i decided to run over a median and blow up two of my tires."
listen to laughter on the other end.
7:14am: Cody pulls behind my car now stranded in the bike lane and helps me back into the nearest neighborhood entrance. clarification: reverse my car in oncoming traffic.
7:19am - Cody drives me to work. i cry the whole way there. a crew of landscapers hoot and holler about how awesome his truck is. the usual.
7:26am - wipe off every trace of make-up and share my awful, terrible, no good story with everyone at work while they cry with laughter.
7:51am - receive this photo via text from poor Cody who had to drive my car home.

but then again, it's days like yesterday that make me grateful for days like today.
for instance, i was at work making the rounds throughout the waiting room and tidying up. i offered a bottle of water to a nice old lady waiting on the sofa. she politely declined, and then with one look said to me,
"i had no idea just one little blazer could make such a big impact on an outfit."
(referring to my self proclaimed amazing cheetah print blazer)
i smiled and exclaimed, "thank you so much for noticing!"

the good news is, my hubcaps are still intact.
it's the little things.

  1. Caitlin, you make me laugh. And not just because you try to drive through medians... :)
