the first year of marriage is so fun.
know why?
because, even if you burn dinner, that's what there is to eat and husband has to put on a smile.
truth be told i feel much more confident in my cooking these days and i haven't burned anything or filled the house with smoke in quite a while...until the other night.
it was already past the dinner hour when i realized how late it was and hurried to put a lasagna in the oven.
husband was hungry.
and why does lasagna take so gosh darn long?
knowing that i had a hungry hubby lead to me thinking that if i just broiled the lasagna for the last few minutes it would speed up the cooking time...
little did i know it would only react with the paper carton, almost ignite it and fill the oven with smoke only to seep into the house upon opening the oven door.
so it wasn't too terrible actually, it was more embarrassing.
what kind of a shmuck wife can't even successfully heat a frozen lasagna all the way through?

i was so sad about the lasagna ordeal, that the next day i decided i needed a fresh start in the kitchen. thus, a new coat of paint was applied.

obviously gray is not the boldest color to spice up our kitchen. but, gray is my favorite color and i don't think i'll ever get sick of it. also, since our cabinets are that wretched color, i couldn't think of any other color i would like next to them.
thus, the gray wins and i'm so happy with how it looks because it's a bit more dramatic, makes the decor pop a little more and ties in with the other grays in our home.
win.
I set the smoke alarm off for the first time last week and my husband just laughed and laughed. It was cute, and embarrassing.
